If there has been a positive during this pandemic, it has been not having to drive in traffic and being able to work from home. But nothing good comes without a bit of discipline and planning. Below is what has worked for me so far:
Having a morning routine.
I am a creature of habit. So working from home means I have to follow a routine in order to make sure I am checking all the boxes. Professionally and personally, both.Having a dedicated workspace.
It helps productivity to know where you are going to be working from even if you have to fold and put it away every night. Personally, I love working from my dining table because it gets a lot of natural light and I can close to snacks. Ha!Surrounding myself with the right technology.
Chargers, office supplies, headphones ... whatever you need, make sure it is available in your work place. If you have to get up and grab things from another room every minute you are not going to be able to make working-from-home work.Dressing for the office. Optional.
I have heard argument from both sides. While I personally love getting ready and sitting down to work I also see merit in being my workout clothes so that I don't have to change or get lazy to get a workout in. Do what works best for you but don't write off dressing for work before you have tried it at least for a week.Having a definitive end to my workday.
This, I would say has been the most important for my sanity and productivity. Sticking to the same working hours as I would if I went to office (exceptions taken in account). One of the perks of working from home is the flexibility of as-long-as-the-work-gets-done but I have to mention that not sticking to a routine and set hours have had detrimental effects to my overall health in the past.Tee | Joggers | Slides
