Six Fatalities in Missouri Over Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend marks the introduction of summer!  Unfortunately, the holiday weekend is second only in accidents to the Fourth of July holiday.  Over the holiday weekend, at least five people were killed in traffic crashes on Missouri roads and one person died in a boating accident at the Robert Delaney Conservation Area on Upper Big Lake. The  accident victims varied in age range and were from across the state of Missouri as well as one victim from California.

A Farmington woman was killed on Missouri Route 32 in a pedestrian accident when she was attempting to cross the highway and was struck and killed. The accident happened Friday. A Bentonville, Arkansas man was killed in a motorcycle accident near Washburn, Missouri on Saturday. A 93 year old woman died in an auto accident Saturday near Portageville and her vehicle caught fire following the crash. A Camp Pendleton, California man died in an ATV accident Sunday in Perry County when the ATV he was riding overturned. A 23 year old Walnut Grove man was killed when his vehicle overturned near Eudora on Sunday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated 274 crashes between Friday and Monday night and troopers arrested 129 people for driving while intoxicated.

In addition to auto accidents, there was the death of a 64 year old Sikeston man who died in a boating accident at Robert Delaney conservation Area. According to sources, he lost his balance and fell overboard while trying to tie a rope to a tree limb. Troopers investigated seven boat crashes involving two injuries.

Deaths and serious injuries are not only life changing for the individual victim but also for family members and friends.  Circumstances surrounding an accident are always critical when determining fault and liability.  It can be overwhelming as an injured victim or a family member of the deceased to even think about discovering “fault” and “liability” but unfortunately, these terms will appear again and again if attempting to negotiate with an insurance company.  At our firm, we handle all negotiations with insurance companies so that victims and families can concentrate on rebuilding their lives.  More often than not, getting the compensation that you need is necessary in rebuilding your life whether it is for medical costs, lost wages or a major change in your life.

Insurance and attorneys are not fun topics for anyone. If you have been in an accident, you may not need an attorney….we hope that you are not seriously injured enough to need an attorney.  However, if you or a loved one has been seriously injured, you will want to consult a personal injury attorney before finalizing any settlement arrangement with an insurance company.

Our attorneys are available seven days a week, toll free (800) 685-3302 or locally, (314) 276-1681
