Brisbane’s The Jensens make the kind of music that’s meant to be played at a blasting level. Their confident debut single, “Shark Thunder”, is a song you can really sink your teeth into on first listen. Balancing overdriven backing guitars with a high wailing riff on top, it’s classic surf rock with hints of pop and a bit of call-and-response. Using syncopation to their advantage, the guitar and vocals fill in each others holes and keep the song moving at a steady pace. A powerful ode to livin’ life, the song rides the hopeful notion that amongst the mundanities, “somebody is out there waiting for me.” With such a strong debut, we’re expecting big things from The Jensens’ first multi-track release.
