Pronouns can change so much; take the tearfully cathartic and yearning heartache of Coldplay's 2005 evergreen 'Fix You' a sentimentally anthemic song, it breathes words of comfort and hope, sends out a powerful message to all those 'miserable' souls out there who yet have to realize their own potential and worth. Now, replace 'you' with 'it' and what you get is Liam McClair's latest single to be released mid february; equally reassuring and encouraging in terms of holding onto something worth fighting for, something pure and real yet battered (however, not broken), 'Fix It' blends the singer/songwriter's warm, mellifluous voice and tenderly languorous acoustic melodies in a truly mesmerizing way, reminds us to cherish what we have (in a relationship)  though it might not be perfect instead of trading it for something new (often soon to discover it is, nonetheless, less meaningful and fulfilling as we imagined it to be).

Calling attention to society's 'disposable tendencies' nowadays, whether it's with goods or, even worse, with people (I guess we all have been there, haven't we?), the manchester based muso prompts us to try make things work before abandoning who- or whatever meant a great deal to us once (in fact, has never ceased doing so to begin with). Certainly, the song's floating, soulfully haunting melodic momentum adds to this very impression: intensified through infectious, atmospheric clapping, its sonorously brisk rhythm begs us, as it seems, to take action right away and show appreciation for what we have and who we share it with, its smooth, ethereal harmonies leave room for us to reflect on what is good and invigorating in our lives, from an emotionally pensive perspective in particular. And while we do Liam's soothing vocals drift along as genuinely poignant and charmingly clear as the lyrical lesson that comes with it.
