Single By Sunday, Indie Week 2018 Preview

By Phjoshua @thereviewsarein

As 2017's Best Emerging International Artists, it would make sense for Glasgow boys, Single By Sunday to return to Toronto for Indie Week 2018. So they are.

The pop quartet with the brightly coloured hair will be in town for the annual music festival to play for Canadian audiences and to continue growing their fan base outside of their native Scotland. And since they're making a 5000+ km trip, it also makes sense that the band has already scheduled three shows at Indie Week, with the possibility for more.

Josh, Jonny, Jack, and Jorge bring a pop-punk sound that reminds us of the love we had for bands like Simple Plan, The All-American Rejects, and Sum 41 early in their careers. There's an innocence and nostalgia that accompanies a freshness and new edge to Single By Sunday's sound. Most importantly, their music is fun to listen to.

In some places online we've seen them categorized as a boy band. And while we can see it in the most simplistic of definitions (it's a band made up of boys), we're not sure we'd slap that on them. They've also been tagged as Scotland's best-unsigned band by Capital FM radio. And while we don't know all of the unsigned acts in the mix, we can certainly accept that label after listening to their two most recent EPs, Watch Out World (2017) and Punk - U (2018).

We fully expect a lot of energy, a whole lot of fun, and a repeat of the excellence that earned them accolades last year.

On Facebook, the band says, "The aim is to sell out venues and meet the people who come to see us live.". They've got at least three shows to show Toronto what's up.

We'll be ready for them!

Listen to Punk - U and Watch Out World and get yourself ready too!
