Siclovia - Our Family Adventure

By Michelle Hernandez @Familylovesa
If you weren't one of the estimated 40,000 people at Siclovia this past weekend,  you are probably wondering what everyone was doing on Broadway!
Siclovia came to San Antonio last fall and this March was their second event. Attendance practically doubled!
Broadway was closed from Parland, by the Acorn school, to McCullough. Along the way were four Reclovia stations providing different activities like Zumba, hula hooping, inflatables, volleyball, basketball and booths set up handing out healthy snacks and drinks. There were also some vendor booths for purchasing food and drinks.
We parked in Brackenridge Park, many parked in the free parking garage right next to the Witte Museum, then took the backroad to Broadway.
The kids were so excited when their tires hit the street!

The kids rode their bike from the Witte to the Pig Stand!  I mapped it later and it was 1.6 miles each way!
We had to turn back after that, for the sake of those little legs!
But we stopped by Lions Field, and played on the inflatables, and had some snacks provided by HEB!

Then kept it moving!
We really enjoyed the flow of the event. Everyone pretty much stayed on the correct sides of the road. We did not see any collisions and we were at the event for about 3 1/2 hours.
This family adventure was a success! We wish we could have done more!  Next time we will be pros!

We definitely look forward for more Siclovia events!
