Magpupungko Rock Pool
I headed to Magpupungko Rock Pool after a failed attempt at seeing and swimming with the stingless jellyfish in Sohoton National Park. I rented a habal-habal with driver for P550 round trip. The ride took around 30 minutes.
I saw pictures of Magpupungko online and was enthralled by it. I finally got to see the rock pool with my own eyes, and it didn't disappoint.
I've heard that the rock pool was more breathtaking during low tide, too bad I missed it by a few hours. nonetheless the rock formations, especially the big boulder tittering on an edge, were impressive.
The color of the water was a mix of blue and emerald. The rock formations and the changing hues of the water were a sight to behold. A lot of tourists jumped off one of the cliffs into the emerald waters of Magpupungko.
The motorcycle ride to and from Magpupungko was scenic. There were lush forests, farmlands, and mountains everywhere I looked, and the fresh air was revitalizing. There was a nice beach next to the rock pool, although not the main reason why people visit, the beach was quite relaxing. You can contact Kuya Jerome if you need a habal-habal through 09491619453.
General Luna
General Luna was the beach and district where most of the accommodations are found. The resorts line the beach and many more accommodations are found within the town. The beach also served as the jump-off point to the nearby islands of Daku, Guyam, and Naked. There wasn't much to do here other than, eat and bum around. I'm sure the place livens up after sunset because of the many restaurants and bars in the area. I'm not much of a party person so I just ate lunch at Patrick's. Most of the action is off the coast of this beach and in Cloud 9 further up north.
How to Get to General Luna from Dapa Port
There are public tricycles that head to General Luna for P30 one way or you can rent the entire tricycle P200 to P300.
How to Get to Siargao
Lantsa from Surigao to Siargao (Dapa Express)
Lantsa from Surigao to Siargao (Dapa Express)
There are ferries or lantsas in Surigao City that travel to Siargao. The first trip leaves at 5:30AM and the last trip leaves at 12PM. There is also another trip that leaves at 10:30AM to 11AM. The fare costs P250 one way and the trip lasts for 2 and a half to 3 hours. I suggest you board Montenegro Lines because the boat is bigger, has comfortable seats, a restroom, and air conditioning. The P250 fare is the same whether you are riding Dapa Express or Montenegro Lines, so if you want a comfortable ride, choose Montenegro Lines if it is available.
