“It’s our job to make sure you have a good fucking time. Are you having a nice time?”
It was a nice gesture, and it got a pop from the crowd, but everyone at the WayBold stage on Sunday evening had already made it clear that they were good before Walk the Moon asked the question.
Note: Shout out to Indie88 for supplying the HUGE beach ball.
Note II: This may have been the youngest crowd we saw during the festival.
As the set time ticked away and everyone knew things had to end soon, the boys gave us all an awesome surprise when they busted out a cover of All These Things That I’ve Done, dedicating it to The Killers’ frontman and fellow WayHome performer, Brandon Flowers. The crowd popped, then came down enough to clap and sing along, shouting I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier as loud as they could. It was a great addition to the set, and we’ve got a little video at the bottom of the post to prove it.
If All These Things was a 9 on the crowd participation and excitability scale, Shut Up and Dance was an 11. The assembled mass pushed closer to the stage, sang, clapped, danced, and cheered as the band pumped out there biggest hit with smiles on their faces and all the energy they had left. It was a moment of predictable bliss that did not disappoint, the hype was fulfilled.
And after the song ended, and the cheers faded, it was pretty safe to say that everyone had a nice time.
