An individual was shot with a T.56 firearm today (13) at around 7.30 am at Kumaratunga Mawatha, Walasgala, Dematapitiya within the Dikwella police area.
Palavinnage Mangala Yasalal Kumaratunga, 50, a resident of Dikwella, Dambagasara, who was seriously injured by gunshot wound, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Matara General Hospital for treatment.
Dikwella police are conducting further investigations into the matter. There is also a rise in shooting incidents around the country.
