Shinzo Abe, Former Japan PM, Dies After Being Shot in Nara

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was killed in Nara on Friday while campaigning for the upcoming election, Reuters reported the NHK public announcer. The 67 -year -old world leader was rushed to a hospital in a serious condition, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in a speech to the state. A suspect has been detained.

Former Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo fainted during his speech in Nara City, in Western Japan. The initial report said he might have been injured. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. (8 am). Abe made a campaign speech on the road outside the train station ahead of the Sunday election to the Japanese Parliament High Council.

Two Witnesses – A NHK reporter and a female participant – told NHK that they heard two shots. The woman said that even though the first shot was hard, she didn’t see anyone falling. But after the second shot, he saw former PM Abe collapsed to the ground.NHK reporters at the scene said two bangs in succession were heard during Abe’s speech. His safety personnel seemed to rush to help, in videos and images taken.

Abe has been beaten to the left of his chest when several shots were fired by the attacker, reporting Reuters, quoting TBS. Someone seems to have hit the former PM on the neck.

What we know about the suspect

A 41 -year -old man, Tetsuya Yamagami, who is believed to be a resident of Nara City, has been arrested for being suspected of carrying out an attempt to murder due to shooting at Abe, reporting the Japanese media house NHK quoted police sources.

A witness of the attack told NHK that a clear shooter did not try to escape after the shooting. He instead put a gun and remained on the spot because he was captured by security personnel.

Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe has no vital signs when arriving at the hospital, said the doctor at Nara Medical University Hospital. He added that Abe’s wound was deep enough to achieve his heart. “Abe suffered a wound around the right side of his neck,” Reuters news agency quoted a doctor. “Abe bloody and unfortunately and we can’t save him.”
