Shine On…

Handing over my blog space

Today I am handing some blog space over to my son, Jonathan. As you will see, he has set himself a challenge, and has his own special reasons for doing so:

As many of you know cancer is an issue close to the heart. In the past few years, us Littledales as a family have battled against Bowel, skin, lung and prostate cancer. For the majority of time during University I was away from home for long periods of time and that meant I was unable to help. For that reason I have always been keen to give something back. Now when Mum beat bowel cancer for the first time I took part in a 5K race around Hyde Park and in the process raised around £1500. This time with Mum having beaten Lung Cancer it is time to go bigger and better. For that reason I will be taking part in Cancer Research’s London Nighttime Marathon (SHINE) in September. Raising money for cancer is something that I’m extremely passionate about, and is the reason I have taken on a new role as a fundraising and events assistant at a Charity close to home. Every single penny I raise will specifically go to Bowel cancer research and with that in mind I have set myself an initially conservative target of £1000, but I can’t get there without your help!
