Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel Review

By Travellingtheworld

The stay at Shera

ton Miami Airport Hotel was for two nights.

It is located on the NW 21st street, very close to the Miami International Airport.

Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel

The hotel runs frequent shuttles to the airport, and just a few minutes away from the hotel is the Miami Mover light rail that services the airport.

The hotel is also close to downtown, as well as the famed neighbourhoods of Coconut Grove and the Coral Gables.

A number of shopping centers, such as the Dolphin Mall and Macy’s are also not far, and their shuttles make stop-over at the hotel.

The Room

The rooms are also as spacious as the ones at the Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach.

The window view opened up to the Miami Mover line. It might not be the sight many would want, but I love the sight of sleek trains.

There was no free water, but outside the main entrance, the hotel had a mini fridge with chilled water for no charge.

Of course, there was also a coffee maker with coffee, powdered milk, sugar and tea.

There was also the obligatory widescreen television but it had trouble displaying some of the stations on the correct format. I will later write a post about hotel television sets and wrong formats.

Unlike the previous Sheraton, there was no safe in this hotel but there were enough electric outlets.

Green Program

The Sheraton also runs a green program, which allows you to skip a day of house- keeping for 250 Starwood Preferred Guest Points or $5.00 in credit. We opted for the credit.

Breakfast

This was the only meal we had at the hotel.

A sumptuous buffet is served with items including eggs (hard-boiled, scrambled eggs or you can order from the chef), different types of cheese, fruits, bread, croissants, hash browns, sausages and fresh juice.

The Pool & Gym

The gym is located on the ground floor and has treadmills, ellipticals etc.

The heated pool is a gem, though I heard it is not heated during the summer. Free towels are given and we had great temperatures for swimming.

Final Notes

The hotel is a good one if you want to be closer to the airport and the downtown.

The hotel was kind enough to extend the check-out time by an hour.

There are also frequent shuttles to the airport and shopping malls. But we had a challenge going out to the casinos and the Coral Gables which are within the three-mile (4.8 km) zone of the hotel for which it is supposed to provide free shuttle. We had to wring it out after some discussions.
