Here’s why I ask. The new series I’m writing I started because I like writing thrillers/mysteries but I wanted to be a tad naughtier than I can be in my cozy mysteries. Wanted to make things a little more sexy, more dangerous —everything a tad edgier — but as I’m wrapping up this first book I find myself wondering about sex. My hero and heroine don’t have time to get married in this book. I don’t want to pull an Outlander and trick them into it. I just want them to get their groove on! But I also don’t want to alienate even my most broadminded cozy readers… Or forever be unable to look my mother in the eye.
I know some of you are good if my characters have a foursome with a randy otter and an alien an hour after they meet. Other readers won’t want anyone getting naked until rings are on fingers and somebody has a case of baby-fever. I’m afraid I can’t make either of those extremes happy. But for all you people in the middle somewhere – I have two polls!
What do you think is the appropriate level of heat for Kilty as Charged? To help you decide, here’s the cover so you can compare what you expect upon seeing that and what you get.
First, Heat Level:
Sex Poll: Heat Level
- Give me sexy sex! Body parts! Moisture levels! You name it!
- It can be HOT, but don't use really grossly graphic words.
- Sex to completion but sweet as possible.
- Sex more implied than described and always fade to black.
- Everyone should wear turtlenecks at all times.

Then, Relationship Status:
Sex Poll: Relationship Level
- Get these hotties naked ASAP!
- Doesn't have to take long, but I need to believe they really like each other.
- They should be pretty darn smitten and months have passed.
- Let's wait for book two or three so they've been dating for a year or more.
- Find a way to take the curse off pre-marital sex no matter how flimsy the excuse.
- Married. Period.
