Thoughts on Sensation
Characters & Performances – Andrew Cooper gets recruited for a research project, one which is meant to be showing abilities he could have to help him complete special mission, he must learn about them, while getting pushed through the tests he just can’t handle. Eugene Simon isn’t the strongest in this role, never being as convincing as someone learning as we need for this role. Nadia is running the program, showing Andrew and the other recruits about what they might be offering. We do also meet the other recruits who are all around for Andrew, with different levels of experiences that will lead to the bigger operation going on. The performances are all solid without giving us enough to show just how confusing the situation created.
Story – The story here follows a young man that gets recruited for a special research project, one that will see him needing to deal with additional abilities that could make them a bigger weapon for someone in the future, but the training will give us a twist on reality. This is a story that is bringing us into a world a mind control showing how people will need to learn about their abilities and come together in what does feel like a mix of The Matrix and Inception. It might well get confusing at times, which will add into the idea that you will need to focus on every single moment of the film.
Themes – Sensation is a sci-fi mystery that will keep you guessing, as just when you think you know what is going on, everything gets turned on its head again, which does keep you on your seat, but might end up going into one too many attempts to pull the rug from under us. The film does use the settings to show the different environments that could be created or have people placed into.
