All senior National TT players are expected to take part in the Senior National Table Tennis Championship which is scheduled to be played this weekend (25-26) at the S. Thomas’ Gymnasium in Mount Lavinia.
The Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) is conducting this tournament while Yeti the branded energy drink came forward to sponsor this event.
The defending National champion Senura Silva who is presently away in USA for further training missed this major event while Krishan Wickramaratne, Chameera Ginige, Nirmala Jayasinghe the experienced players from the men’s section while the most experienced women’s player and former National women’s champion Ishara Madurangi, Muthumali Priyadharshani and promising paddlers Bimandee Bandara and Ayla Chitty are the key players of the open women’s category.
The TTASL already selected players for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games and this senior National championship will be a good opportunity to get match exposure for these selected players while young players like Dewmith Weerasena, Janith Batugedera are expected to take part in this event which gives good exposure for them.
The key events of open men and women singles and doubles, mixed doubles are more attraction at this event.
