Diving into Sego’s “Stars” feels like entering a world of hopeful, resilient catharsis. As playful guitars weave together, some with lush production and others with a more jangly temperament, the lyrics talk of overcoming low expectations and ending up among “the stars.” When hazy, ethereal layers are added towards the bridge, this metaphorical concept of personal victory takes on a more literal, other-worldly meaning, and the result is a rich, dynamic rock song.
