As the winners of the 2013 SiriusXM Emerging Artist Showcase, The Reklaws had an opportunity to take the stage twice during the 2014 festival. On Thursday night they started the Coors Banquet Kick Off Party, opening for Natalie Stovall & The Drive, Brett Kissel, and Dallas Smith. And they didn’t waste anytime getting things amped up.
The Thursday crowd was full of anticipation as they moved towards the Front Porch Stage, ready for music and the start of their 4 day long country music party… and The Reklaws delivered.
Their set started with their debut single, Kiss Kiss and continued with a mix of original songs and covers that the crowd was able to sing and dance and part along with. The mix of their own tracks Small Town Simple, Topless and Pick Up Lines with covers of Alabama’s Mountain Music, Little Big Town’s Boondocks, and Steppenwolf’s Magic Carpet Ride made for a fun set in the Sunday afternoon sunshine.
Note: We really like these 2. They are fun and sweet and have been good to us with the interview we did leading up to the festival, chatting during short breaks over the Boots & Hearts weekend – and even letting us snap a couple of pictures along the way. We’re hoping for big things in the future.
Both Thursday and Sunday’s sets ended with The Reklaws upcoming single, Seeing Stars – which will also give us their first music video. Keep your eyes open for it on YouTube and CMT, and listen to your favourite country station to hear the tune on the radio.
If you have a chance to catch this brother and sister duo from Cambridge, Ontario – do it. And tell them we say hi.
