Seagram's 100 Pipers: #BeRememberedForGood

By Thetastingfork
Being one of the most well-known Scotch whiskey brands in India, Seagram's 100 Pipers, a blended scotch with a heavy bodied taste, is something that has had fans and followers of it since it came into being. Talking about coming into being, 100 Pipers has a very interesting story to the conceptualisation of its name. A ballad called 'The Hundred Pipers' had a troop of 100 pipers lead the Scottish army to a battle, where they sang and led the army to victory. The inspiration of 100 Pipers scotch comes from this story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his victory in 1745. So according to a Scottish legend, when you have a good scotch you can hear a piper play. Depending on various kinds of scotch and how well-bodied they are, you can hear various numbers of pipers play. This number only goes up till 7 at max, but Bonnie Charles heard 9 pipers while sipping his scotch once. But when you taste a truly exceptional scotch is when you can hear 100 pipers play. Thus began the journey of Seagram's 100 Pipers and bringing the best scotch blends of Scotland together. A tasting of a library of 50 whiskies with 517 different kinds of blends led to Seagram's 100 Pipers coming into being with 30 of these blends used in one bottle. Took more than 20 years for the process to complete and for one bottle of 100 Pipers to have the choicest of malts and grains with the most impressive blends being sealed into it. What a mystical origin to a whiskey that has people enjoying it for years and years now!

A Scotch lover does not love everything that comes his/her way. Some are more inclined towards the flavor and some towards aroma, some towards the smell and taste of the drink and some towards the complete finish. The 100 Pipers whiskey is made with the finest grains and malt, develops mature and multi-layered flavours, texture and aroma. Honey, vanilla and a touch of peat, fruitiness with strokes of smokiness, a heavy and well-rounded complex structure with a creamy texture, and a smooth finish with subtle oak and vanilla notes is what defines the taste and character of a Seagram's 100 Pipers. Thus comes the legend alive- every sip of 100 Pipers is pure music.
Sipping a 100 Pipers can never be the same for me. Getting to know about the brand's story and the unparalleled craftsmanship that's involved in making each bottle of 100 Pipers tells you a lot about why a particular whiskey is appreciated so much.
