Gov. Walker of Wisconsin has only one problem facing him and that is the unfortunate fact that this blog – oh alright then, ME! – has forecast his certain victory in the presidential election in 2016. As some of you know, and never cease to remind me, my forecasting is, shall we say, slightly dodgy. But this time I am not leaning on my preferences but on Gov. Walker’s string of victories to date.
For those of you not up on the finer points of Wisconsin politics – shame on you! – let me remind you that this previously solid Democrat State voted him in as a Republican Governor in 2010 and when the Lefties went ape and forced through a recall election in 2012 he won that, too, and then in last year’s election he steamed home comfortably. During his four years he deliberately picked a fight with the massed ranks of the public ‘service’(!) unions and despite their vitriolic campaigning he won that fight as well.
At the same time, he pushed through legislation insisting that voters must have proper identification when reporting to a polling station. I know you will find this hard to believe but the Democrat party operates on the Irish system – vote early, vote often, even if you and your ten brothers and sisters have been dead for decades! Yes, I know, you’re shocked, I can tell! Anyway, the Lefties led by the ACLU have fought this through the State courts and finally all the way up to the Supreme Court which has just ruled in favour of Gov. Walker. Cue sound of sick-bags being filled off-stage Left!
