School Bus jumps curb in Bowie this morning and runs into house, Possible Arsonist(s) targets Laurel area
According to officials, two recent fires were deemed “incendiary” and added to a list of fires under investigation in the Laurel area. Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department Office of the Fire Marshal personnel investigated the scenes of the fires that involved playground equipment and another at a long vacant restaurant. Investigators believe the two fires are similar to seven others that have been under investigation since March, say officials. One of the recent fires happened on May 30 at about 3:35 p.m. on playground equipment in the 14100 block of Bowsprit Lane. Investigators determined the playground equipment was set on fire, leaving an estimated $1,000 worth of damage. Shortly after midnight the next day, a fire was set in an exterior closet of the former Bay N’ Surf Restaurant in the 14400 block of Baltimore Avenue. The restaurant had a significant fire in February of 2007 and has been closed and vacant ever since, according to officials.
The City of Laurel posted a reward of up to $10,000 for anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever may be responsible for the arsons.
