Most people remember Sabrina The Teenage Witch that aired on ABC in the 90s on their highly successful TGIF night. That show featured Sabrina (Melissa Joan Hart) and her talking cat, Salem. Unfortunately, Melissa will not be reprising her role in Berlanti’s version and will also not feature a talking cat. The new production will actually be based off the Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Robert Hack’s version of the teenage witch.
If you are unfamiliar with their version, here is a description:
“Sabrina is a half-witch, half-mortal caught between two realms, and finds herself trying to protect us mortals, including her boyfriend Harvey, from the monsters that lurk just on the other side of the well. Sabrina also has to wrestle with a troubled family history, one that leads her life to get bloody fast, as grudges are renewed and Sabrina learns what her aunts really want her for.”
With this new version of Sabrina the Teenage Witch being more in the horror genre, it has a good home with The CW. It will be in good company with iZombie and Supernatural on the same network. There is still no word on if the show will ever crossover with Riverdale like the DC Comic shows on The CW crossover once a year. If this show does get the green light, it will be set for the 2018-2019 television season. What are your thoughts about this show? Will you be watching? Tell us below!
