Scaling Online Collaboration

It's a problem. If you're not in the field, what am I talking about?

The web makes it possible for, in effect, infinite numbers of people to collaborate. But how do you collaborate with infinite numbers?

You don't. You can't. Thus network thinkers are trying to solve this problem. INSITE, the European Union's program on innovation, sustainability, and information technology, is including this issue as a worktrack in its Masters of Network symposium later this month in Venice.

Thanks to my colleague, Milica Begovic (above), who works for the UN Development Programme in Montenegro, I've been alerted both to the conference where she's presenting and to this post by Alberto Cottica, which lays out the problem and points to data sources that can be used, and who has this fascinating TEDx video delivered in Bologna, "Designing Collective Intelligence." (If you don't speak Italian, what a minute. Cottica speaks in English.
