The Open House Airshow at Edwards AFB is always worthwhile due to the possible appearance of some unique aircraft based locally. The 2009 show was the last one I attended and gave me an opportunity to photograph White Knight Two, seen here after a short flight from Mojave. First flown in 2008, WK2 is the carrier aircraft for SpaceShipTwo and is named VMS Eve after Richard Branson’s mother Eve Branson. Together, WK2 and SS2 form the basis for Virgin Galactic’s fleet of suborbital spaceplanes. Nikon D300 w/Tokina 11-16mm.
