Method for preparing Sattu Sherbet:

1. In a mixing bowl take sattu. Add about 1/2 cup water to it and whisk well.

2. Now add the remaining 1 1/2 cup water followed by black salt, cumin powder, black pepper powder, chopped mint leaves and lemon juice. Give a good stir.

3. Pour into serving glasses, garnish with lemon wedge and serve!

  • Do not replace the black salt with ordinary salt as it gives a distinct taste to sattu sharbet.
  • Fresh coriander leaves may also be added along with mint leaves.
  • Traditionally, finely chopped onion and minced green chili is also added in this sharbet. I have not added here, as it is to be served to kids. You may add onion though as it gives a bite to the sattu sharbet.

This sattu sherbet is an excellent way of adding this super food into your kid’s diet. As it cools down the body temperature, this drink is excellent during Summers. This is a vegan, no-cook and gluten free recipe which can be made in a jiffy.
