Sathosa Reduces Prices of Essential Goods Ahead of Festive Season

Lanka Sathosa has lowered the prices of several types of essential consumer goods that are sold to the public to provide relief in view of the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season with effect from midnight yesterday.

A kilo of dry chilies has been reduced by Rs. 300 and the new price is Rs. 850. The price of a kilo of Bombay onions imported from China has been reduced by Rs. 120 and its new price is recorded as Rs. 375.

The price of onions imported from India and Pakistan has been reduced by Rs. 50 and its new price is Rs. 445. A kilo of garlic has been reduced by Rs. 15 and its new price is recorded as Rs. 680. A kilo of potatoes has been reduced by Rs. 10 and its new price is Rs. 165.

Also, Lanka Sathosa has decided to reduce the price of red lentils by Rs. 7 and white raw rice by Rs. 3.
