Sarita Devi Robbed of Silver ...... Orkut Sunsets

Laishram Sarita Devi is in news ….. not very happy though.. The  woman boxer from Manipur fought in style - It is not often that an entire stadium greets the winner with boos. Definitely not when the winner is from the host country.  Firstpost reports that  even the Koreans could not help but criticize the "decision by unanimous choice" that ruled local hope Jina Park as the winner in her Light Weight (57-60 kg) semifinal bout against India's L Sarita Devi.  Even if you had no idea about the rules of boxing and how points are scored, it wasn't difficult to understand that the Indian boxer was well and truly hammering the daylights out of her Korean opponent. More of Incheon in this post .. The name Orkut Büyükkökten,  a Turkish software engineer  would be one of the names most googled today.  Originally from Konya, Turkey, Büyükkökten, he hit stardom  after research at Stanford  on Web search and efficient PDA usage. Sure you know of the social networking site Orkut.  The service was designed to help users meet new and old friends and maintain existing relationships. The website is named after its creator, Google employee Orkut Büyükkökten.  Today i.e.,  September 30,  Google has choosen to bid adios to Orkut. To many, Orkut was the first social networking site that got people across the globe to actually engage on the Internet. With time, many have abandoned their Orkut accounts in favour of Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest.  Google has stopped creation of new accounts since July 2014.  Orkut was one of the most visited websites in India and Brazil in 2008.  In 2008 Google announced that Orkut would be fully managed and operated in Brazil, by Google Brazil, in the city of Belo Horizonte. Back home, CLT20 Semi line-up is drawn.  The League’s  clampdown on bowlers with suspect actions is the first of its kind in six seasons of the tournament, with Kolkata Knight Riders' Sunil Narine becoming the latest to be warned in this year's event. While the officials have been given a free hand to report bowlers with suspect action, it is not yet clear whether the participating teams had been briefed specifically about the issue. Officials have reported four offspinners - Lahore Lions' Adnan Rasool and Mohammad Hafeez, Dolphins' Prenelan Subrayen, and Narine, the most successful bowler in the tournament's history. Today, the 2nd match at Bangalore between Barbados Tridents and Northern Knights had a late start.  Zimbabwe’s Elton Chigumbura is playing for Tridents in a match of no interest as both the teams are out fo the tournament.  On Oct 2nd : KKR will play Hurricanes at  Hyderabad @ 4 pm local time while Kings XI Punjab will play Chennai Superkings at 8 pm .. Lahore Lions which had perforce to win by a huge margin made only 124/6 but almost defended it so sell.  Lahore Lions employed Test-match fields from the first over, their spinners created panic in the Perth At one point Scorchers were reduced  to 64 for 7, until Brad Hogg came in – threw his arms at will hitting Adnan Rasool for 15 and along with Marsh too them to a win, which was also of academic interest only.  At Asiad in Korea, Ace discus thrower Vikas Gowda was the country's top performer with a silver as India added four medals to maintain their 10th position in the overall standings. Veteran L Sarita Devi (60kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg) had to settle for bronze medals after losing their semifinal bouts, while the duo of Varsha Gautam and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan provided an unexpected bronze medal in sailing. Sarita simply pummelled her rival with her flurry of quicksilver blows -- at times raining four to her rival's one.  Both the boxers  appeared to have got the better of their South Korean opponents, the verdict of the judges against them prompting the Indian contingent to lodge a protest at least for Sarita. However, the appeal was rejected. With regards – S. Sampathkumar.
