Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin declined a short-term contract (worth less than her previous $1 million per year contract) as a contributor on FOX News.  In a statement from Fox News, Executive Vice President for Programming Bill Shine did not comment on whose decision it was to end the relationship, instead saying, “We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Gov. Palin.  We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Palin began her tenure on the cable network in January 2010.  She often, and predictably, criticized Democrats on the network.  She angered FOX executives in August when she took to her Facebook page to vent her frustrations that her appearances for the Republican National Convention were canceled.  She thought she would be an “asset” to the coverage.

As most of you know, I voted for Senator John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.  Palin was, and still is, vastly ill-prepared to be vice-president (or president for that matter).  I simply thought McCain was the better candidate.  Tina Fey’s imitation of the former governor was priceless.  I knew it was only hurting the McCain/Palin campaign, but I found it funny nonetheless.  In some cases Fey didn’t even have to ad-lib.  All she had to do was repeat, in verbatim, what Palin had said in interviews and/or debates.

Since the election, I think Sarah Palin has become a caricature of herself.  She thinks she’s more relevant than what is apparent in reality.  The few times I forced myself to watch her “contributions” proved that she could never become president.  I just don’t want the Republican Party to be associated with her anymore (and that’s why she wasn’t invited to the convention).

I’ll leave you with probably the funniest skit Fey did of the candidate.

Are you happy she left the network?
