Sara Bareilles – ‘The Blessed Unrest’

When I first heard Sara Bareilles was coming out with new music I said to my self FINALLY! Her last album was ‘Kaleidoscope Heart’ and that was in 2010.  Now you are probably saying to yourself there is something about that name I know I have heard it before.  Her breakout hit was ‘Love Song’ in 2007 and since then she has been pulling out hit after hit.

In order to promote the new album she was on SiriusXM’s channel The Pulse to go over every track of the album.  I love these shows because you get you find out a little bit more on how the songs are written and the true meaning of the music.  I also have to say this is the best album she has done so far.

The first song off the album is also the first single is called ‘Brave’.  When I first heard the song I was really listening to what the lyrics were saying and I have to say I love the message this song has.  This song was also written by Fun. band member Jack Antonoff.  The signature piano that Sara has in her songs is present but the the strong beat of the drums really drives this song.  This is a very well written song that was a smart move to release it first.

The next song I love off this album is actually the second song called ‘Chasing the Sun’.  When Sara was talking about this song on the show she did she said she got the idea running through the cemetery with a friend.  This song starts off a little bit slower then Brave and its just her and the piano.  The thing I like about this song is you can close your eyes and right away picture how the music video will lock.  And the message to this one I think everyone again can relate to.  I also love how when the chorus kicks in the tempo of the song picks up along with the other instruments.  And the song continues and everything drops out and its just her and the piano then everything picks up again.  This is a most download!

The next song I am in love with on the album is called ‘Eden’.  I really hope this is her next single off the album.  This is a more faster pace song with a great tempo and when that chorus kicks in I can’t help but tap my foot.  When Sara talked about this song she said it was about Los Angeles.  Since I have been to the city of angles numerous times I can hear how she is talking about the city.  Once you hear this song you will want to listen to it again. Everything about this is just perfect and I’m sure once it gets on the radio it will be a instant hit!

Now of course I did my research on where I should get this album and I found out it was cheaper if I got it on iTunes and I got a bonus track as well!  the next song I can’t stop listening to is called ‘I Wanna Be Like Me’.  This song is way different from her past work and it’s nice to see she can do different stuff but still sound amazing!  This is another fast pace song I can see in a movie or TV show.

Now there were a lot of other songs that were done very well like ‘Satellite Call’, ‘Hercules’ and ‘Islands’.  With every song so well done it was hard to choose which ones I needed to talk about.  I have to say I think taking three years off was the best thing!  She is back and better then ever. This album is a 5/5!
