Santo António Caves of Portugal (Videos)

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

Grutas de Santo António in the District of Leiria is a cave system discovered in 1955 by two workmen who fell in while trying to catch a bird. 40m in depth, the caves cover an area of 6,000 square metres in the Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros. The other cave systems nearby are Grutas Alvados, Grutas de Mira de Aire, and Grutas de Moeda. For €9 (at time of this writing), you can visit both Santo António and Alvados caves.
