2 outs, bottom of the ninth, 3-2 count, immortality on the line and freakin’ Eric Chavez hits a sinking liner to right that Hunter Pence just barely misses. Yusmeiro Petit missed out on becoming a household name by that much. Guy was lights out last night striking out 7 while throwing just 95 pitches to that point. That’s about as efficient as it gets as a MLB pitcher and yet Petit will be remembered for the one that got away. It’s still a bad ass performance but one that will be remembered for what it wasn’t.
