San Diego Vacation

By Amazinglynormal @amazinglynorm

In the beginning of September, we took a little trip to San Diego California. We did a lot of sight-seeing and pretty much fell in love with the city. In the short amount of time we were there, we noticed that there was always something to do, somewhere to go, a lot of events and festivals are held, great restaurants, close to the beaches, parks for the kids and just the atmosphere in general, its a very artistic city. The weather was more in the cool temperature the perfect 60′s-70′s, really lovely.

We were actually there for the power outage that affected San Diego and to my surprise the whole city was cool and calm about it. None of the traffic lights were working and everyone treated it like a 4 way stop sign, although this caused a backup in traffic, this ensured everyone was safe and avoiding accidents. People were friendly enough to offer there homes to those that were almost out of gas, which was a shocker. The power didn’t come on till about midnight when we heard people cheering outside. While watching the morning news, there were no reports of robberies, crime or accidents, just a lot of neighbors gathered together BBQin outside, this was definitely a plus. ( This was a completely different experience from New York’s 2003 power outage, which was chaotic )

I must say that the only con about San Diego is the cost of living, it is extremely expensive. We were looking around for apartments and they run around $800-1000/month for a 1BD/1BA 400-600sqft. Gas prices, really high, although everything is close by so you wont be spending much of it. Supermarket food prices high as well, one thing for sure is that you should definitely have a job secured or $$$ save up to make that transition to San Diego. It’s a lovely city and we are really considering in relocating there.

Here are a few places we went to:

Balboa Park

Mount Soledad

Sunset Cliffs

Pacific Beach

Ocean Beach

Coronado Island

Peohe’s Restaurant

O’Bistro Cafe

Extraordinary Desserts

On our last night in San Diego, we were recommended Extraordinary Desserts, located in Little Italy. We were definitely convinced to go after reading all of the wonderful reviews. Once we entered the restaurant it was dessert heaven with all of the lovely desserts displayed at the very front.

Marcell ordered the White Chocolate cheesecake while I ordered the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake and oh my goodness this was the best cheesecake I’ve ever tasted. I expected to just get a slice but I was served the whole 10” cake with a graham cracker crust, topped with a dulce de leche glaze and sour cream, purely delicious. I even ended up saving some to eat it on the plane back home. This restaurant has great service, great people definitely recommend it if your in the San Diego area.
