Have you ever wished to become a child again? Yes, many times, probably. But has any study book or study material ever made you have that wish? Probably not. For even if we might wish to be a child again, it is certainly not so we can study all our old course books again and sit through the horrors of all those school exams.

But yesterday, I saw a kind of study material that really did make me want to become a kid again just so I could use it to study!

Well, this study material is in fact the brand new offering by Samsung. And with it, Samsung has made things so much more interesting for students by digitalizing the course material and making it more engaging and interesting by means of videos, 3D simulations and interactive content which is available to be downloaded and used on all Samsung Tablets.

On September 2, 2014, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Launched Samsung Smart Learning under its MSC (Media Solutions Center) division. Samsung Smart Learning is India’s first Digital Education Store which is to serve as the study aide of about 70 million Indian students studying in classes 1st to 12th for CBSE board. It will also provide useful study content to 4.5 million students engaged in preparing for competitive  examinations. And all this is just the beginning, of course. As time progresses, content suitable for other school boards, higher education institutions and other skills building content will also become a part of Smsung Smart Learning.

The study content available in Samsung Smart Learning has been designed to make it easy and interesting for the students to grasp and understand even complex and boring subject matters. Samsung Smart learning incorporates multimedia tutorials, interactive lessons and also useful practice exercises and tests. Also, as the content can be streamed to wider screen, for example compatible TV sets, the students can use Samsung Smart Learning for joint learning sessions too. And if they face any problem or have a confusion, they can easily submit a query.

To use Samsung Smart Learning, the students just need to download the Smart Learning app on a Samsung Tab. The Smart Learning Application would be available on Samsung App Store from 10th September, 2014. Once the app is installed, the students just need to launch it, use it to create their Smart Learning profile and purchase and download the relevant content of any subject and class. This is a paid service, although the demo content might be available for free.

Samsung Smart Learning is a cloud based service. But it can be used offline as well. And as per the information I got, approximately 7000 stores across India have been equipped to sell Smart Learning content on the Samsung Galaxy Tabs. In time, the number of these stores is to extend to10,000.

Speaking at the launch of Samsung Smart Learning, Dr. Hussain, Principal, DPS, Mathura Road, said, “The launch of Samsung Smart Learning new age digital learning platform for school children is an innovative initiative by Samsung. Appreciations to them for trying to bring about the change in the way students in India learn. Our country needs to leverage the advancements in technology to address the issue of providing quality education to all.”

And  Mr. Tarun Malik, Director, Media Solutions Center – South West Asia, Samsung Electronics, said,“Samsung Smart Learning Solutions is a first-of-its kind service innovation in India which has the potential of revolutionising the educational landscape in the country. Designed to supplement traditional classroom learning, the content is based on a problem solving and interactive approach for students, and stresses on concept understanding in students. At Samsung, we are committed to being the first in software services innovation and with Smart Learning; we are looking to establish our leadership in this space too.”
