This is not a day for large updates or surprises from Samsung, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 holds the line. This is the latest generation of smaller Samsung that can be folded, and is equipped with some small but meaningful improvements, such as larger batteries, increased camera hardware, and stronger main appearance. There are several new colors too, which you can mix and suitable for making flip 4. “ordered first” you yourself but if you hold your breath with price reduction prices, then we have bad news for you: still starting with the price of $ 999 – Affordable With standards that can be folded but still in echelon at the price of a smartphone.
Naturally, there is an updated chipset: The Flip 4 comes with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 (paired with 8GB of RAM), which you will find basically every superior Android phone that is not made by Google released this year. The hinges are slightly slimmer, and Samsung straighten the edge of the previous curved cellphone, shaving a few millimeters with width and height. The thickness remains the same, though: 17.1mm in the hinges and 15.9mm where the end of the screen meets, so that the gap when the phone is folded is the same size.
The main screen is still 6.7 inches with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz, and this is 45 percent which is claimed to be stronger thanks to changes in the structure of display and stronger ultra-tiped glass. The adhesive that keeps the screen protector (very necessary) remains stronger this year. As we all learned, bad things happen when the glue loses its grip. The overall endurance ranking does not change. This is still IPX8 with strong water resistance and you are your own dust durability.
At 1.9 inches, the cover screen is still only a small man. You can do more with a cover screen; There will be an optional smartthings widget for fast access to smart home control, and you can send quick reply to text or use it to access Samsung’s wallet. The cover screen will also display a selfie preview with the same photo ratio as the final image.
The difference in cosmetics between this year’s model and the previous Samsung efforts was small, but they made an impression. Flip 4 feels a little more like the usual and very good flagship cellphone that occurs in two – not something that makes a lot of concessions for its ability to fold. The shiny aluminum rails, more straight angles and edges, and even more hinges make me have a good impression. For cellphones that focus on this mode, it seems like what Flip should be from scratch. Only need an extra samsung iteration to get there.
The 3,300mAh battery last year got up to 3,700mAh push. In our testing, Flip 3 passes one full day of use quite easily, but more battery capacity is certainly not a bad thing. Cable charging speed is a little faster: 25W, up from 15W. Wireless filling is still available at the same speed of 10W.
Finally, the main camera gets several upgraded hardware. This is still a 12 megapixel chip, but this year’s sensor is bigger (Samsung does not say how much), and pixels are larger (1.8μm compared to 1.4μm). You still get optical stabilization, which you really have to do from the $ 999 phone. Ultrawide 12 megapixels fixed, like a Selfie Cam 10 Megapixel.
Flip 4 is available for preorders starting today and will be available on August 26. Colors include the Bora Purple, Graphite, and New Pink-Gold and Blue options.
