- Samsung has reportedly decided against providing an in-display selfie camera for the Galaxy S30 series.

We've already seen the first phones with an in-display selfie camera launched this year, with the ZTE Axon 20 playing the main role. The technology allows for proper full screen viewing as the camera is hidden under the screen.
Well, Korean outlet The Elec reports that Samsung has decided against offering an in-display selfie camera for the Galaxy S30 series (also known as the Galaxy S21 family). The publication reports that Samsung has suffered from low production yields from the technology.
Instead, the Galaxy S30 phones are reportedly going to feature a center-mounted hole punch cutout again, as we've seen with the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 20 series, and Galaxy Note 10 family. We don't have to wait long after the S30 series to see a Samsung device with the technology.
The Elec reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 - slated for release in the second half of 2021 - will be the first Samsung phone to feature this technology.
Samsung and ZTE would not be the only manufacturers offering selfie cameras in display in 2021, as Xiaomi has already confirmed its intention to mass-produce phones with this technology next year. However, Samsung may have great bragging rights if it can offer an in-display selfie camera on a foldable phone.
