‘I don’t know where kids learn all the stuff they know. Seems like they are born gadget experts!’ said the mother of one such gadget expert who recently happened to visit our home and show us his mother’s smartphone. Yes, it was his mother’s phone, but of course, he knew it better, used it more, and had thoroughly customized it as per his preferences. And he is only 9 years old.

But I suppose, kids getting smarter and smarter is just a necessary evolution. It’s our biology trying to keep up with our technology. After all, our gadgets are getting smarter too, and at a rapid pace! Just think about it, even the Idiot Box is becoming smart now and it can now do so much more than just showing you TV shows. It is quickly turning into a smart computer, capable of quick internet browsing, video chatting and lot more.

No wonder than that the Smartphone market is getting flooded with phones that come added with newer and better features every day. Phones are now no longer just tools to call people. They are becoming wonder gadgets, adding more and more functions to their capabilities.

First, phones were used just for talking. Then they become text messenger, then entertainment device, then camera. As of now, smart phones can do almost as many things as your computer and laptop.

But here comes a new phone with a feature that your computer or laptop cannot do.

Samsung GALAXY Beam

The phone I am talking about is the latest wonder in the GALAXY range of smartphones by Samsung. It is Samsung GALAXY Beam Projector smartphone. The smartphone, as the name suggests, has the ability to enable the user to display and share multimedia content on a projector screen or even on any clear flat surface like a wall.

This ultra slim projector smartphone was launched in New Delhi on 19 June, 2012.

Galaxy Beam, an Android 2.3 phone, is capable of sharing user’s multimedia, that is, photos, videos, maps, business information and even games by beaming them directly on projector screens, walls, ceilings or other such flat surfaces. Beam has an ultra-bright 15 lumens projector and crisp high-definition projection capability of up to 50’’ wide at a distance of 2 meter. The phone also has 5 MP camera to click excellent pictures and videos.

Now, if you think a phone bearing a projector would be something bulky and ugly, think again. The smartphone is only 12.5 mm thick and looks sleek and stunning, thanks to its stylish and ergonomic design. The phone ensures super smooth functioning with its 1.0GHz dual-core processor. To help you carry all your media with you, it gives you 8GB of internal memory. This can further be expanded up to 32 GB by using memory cards, of course. You might also think that projection of media for long period of time would eat up too much battery. But to ease that worry, Samsung has provided 2 powerful 2000 mAh batteries to help you enjoy your projector phone without any battery tension.

Samsung GALAXY Beam

The GALAXY Beam also has specialized applications like the Ambience feature for various mood experiences. Beam also has a drawing tool for presentations which can help the presenter to attract the viewers’ attention without a laser pointer.

Samsung GALAXY Beam is priced at Rs. 33,900/-. As of now, it is available exclusively at all Samsung Smartphone Cafes.

With the launch of this phone, Smartphone has acquired a new skill, making things more easier and convenient for us. No longer do you need to depend on bulky projectors. Just pick up a GALAXY Beam, find yourself a big screen or a wall, and your are set to start projecting your memories, your movies or your presentation.
