Since its launch in 2017, Google's jacquard smart fiber technology has found its way into an eclectic list of products, including a Levi's denim jacket and adidas insoles. Today you can add a pair of Samsonite backpacks to that list: the Konnect-i Slim for $ 199.99 and the Konnect-i Standard for $ 219.99.
On the left shoulder strap of both are touch-sensitive fibers and a jacquard label. The latter connects to your phone via Bluetooth. We'll go into more detail on how you can use Jacquard functionality in our review of the Konnect-i, but the options are pretty extensive. For example, you can program the fibers to play and pause music or, among other things, activate the countdown timer in your phone's camera app. There is also a programmable LED light for notifications and warnings.

The rucksacks themselves are made of a water-repellent polyester material with silver-colored accents, which reflect light at night for safety reasons. The shoulder straps and the back are comfortably padded. Inside you will find a padded laptop and tablet compartment that can accommodate 15.6 inches, as well as a collection of various pockets to help you organize. The models differ in size and design, with the slim version having vertical zips at the front, while the standard model (see image above) has a single horizontal zipper.
According to Samsonite, you get 10-14 days of battery life on a single charge of the Jacquard Tag, depending on how often you use the functionality. Unfortunately, you have to charge the tag with a micro USB cable.
At $ 200, the Konnect-i is an expensive backpack, but it could be a good option for those who want to look at their phone less while still getting most of its uses.
