True Blood’s Sam Trammell walked the red carpet at the Boston Film Festival on Thursday night. He was there for his film “White Rabbit,” which also stars “The Descendants” actor Nick Krause as a bullied high school student who has visions of a rabbit he killed when he was a kid. Trammell plays his father.
Trammell, who went to Brown University, said before the screening that he was thrilled to be returning from Los Angeles to the East Coast for the night. He was hoping that while in town he’d be able to catch up with his old friend John Slattery, who’s in Boston to film the movie “Spotlight.” “I may get to see them tonight for a bit,” Trammell said, of Slattery and “Spotlight” director Tom McCarthy.
Trammell said that he’s usually recognized for his work on “True Blood,” but that he has a new group of fans because he played Shailene Woodley’s dad in the wildly popular film adaptation of John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars.” “That’s such a completely different demographic,” he said. “I was just blown away by the cult of John Green.” Trammell added that Thursday night would be his first time seeing “White Rabbit” on a big screen. He planned to do a Q&A with producer Robert Yocum. The Boston Film Festival runs through Sunday.
