Following last month’s Two Inch Punch produced “Safe With Me” is Sam Smith’s “Nirvana”.  It’s a little more of a straightforward pop song than “Safe With Me” but still has trademarks of current british pop—dreamy 80s affected arrangements with electronica infused production.  This song’s vibe is more introspective while the melody is uplifting and singable.  What he’s singing about is instantly relatable—a failing relationship that, despite all rationality one still holds onto—”I don’t think this will last but you’re here in my arms” . “Nirvana” is a good indicator that Smith’s post-”Latch” fame wasn’t vapid or transient and, hopefully unlike the waning relationship which inspired this song, will last.
