New Saddle Creek signing Sam Evian has unveiled ‘Health Machine’ ahead of his album ‘You, Forever’ (out in June). He’s played shows with Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Deerhunter and this song has an anthemic alt-rock feel that would be in line with The National or The War on Drugs. It opens with stop-start West Coast-infused guitar hooks and harmonies while Sam’s intriguing vocal delivery is sure to prick your ears. He talks about staying thin, healthy and keeping free and clean before a thrilling burst of sax takes the song to another level in its final throes. Remember when Eels went blues-rock? It has that kind of punch-the-air feeling.

Sam Evian will tour the UK:

18 May – Brighton, The Great Escape
19 May – Bristol, Rough Trade
21 May – Birmingham, Hare and Hounds
22 May – London, The Islington
24 May – Glasgow, The Hug and Pint
25 May – Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
26 May – Manchester, Albert Hall #
