Its naturally gluten free also.when i plan to make salmon recipe i wanted to make it the way my moms flavourful fish fry recipe. Yes the masala i used is my moms secret ingredient for meen varuval.
It worked really great with salmon also. In future i try some of the international cuisines using salmon and post. So here is salmon fry with indian spices.

Ingredients i used for south indian style salmon fish fry
Salmon fillets - i used 400gms of salmon fish fillets with skin on. I cut into pieces for the size which i need. So piece it as you want 🙂
Shallots - use chinna vengayam (shallots) preferrably which gives super punch to the recipes
Garlic flakes - which is a flavor enhancer for all indian recipes. So how should i miss it??
Red chilies - deseed it before soaking if you want the recipe less spicy.
Fennel seeds - do not skip it which blends really well with onion and garlic
Salt - ½ tsp is enough for our taste buds.but you can adjust for your taste. Slightly taste after the masala is ready.
Oil - we gonna make shallow fry. So take the oil as needed.

Serving suggestions:
You can serve as a side dish with meen kuzhambu or any of your favourite meal. Also it is a perfect starter to serve with lemon wedges and onion slices.
Leave skin : leave the skin of salmon as it gives you a good flavor and dont worry you can easily take the flesh and skin separates.
Adjust salt: use salt for your taste.
Deep or shallow fry: if you are diet conscious, shallow fry it as i did with less oil or elso you can do deep fry by adding more oil. Both will taste good.

how to make salmon fish fry indian style
- Wash the salmon fillets and leave the skin on, cut into desired size pieces.
- Meanwhile add 10 red chilies in a bowl and top with hot water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes.
- In a mixie , add soaked red chilies, peeled shallot and garlic, 2 tsp of fennel seeds, ½ tsp of salt. Grind to smooth paste.
- Add this masala paste to salmon fillets. Let them marinate for 30 mins or you can make immediately also
- Heat a frying pan, add some oil to shallow fry. Place the marinated fish fillets in a pan gently.
- Keep the flame low and cook each side for 2 minutes.
- Once done serve as side dish or as a starter with sliced onions and lemon wedges.
