Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told a farmers’ meeting held in Tissamaharama recently that justice will be done to both the farmers and consumers of this country by having a fixed price system adopted by Parliament for food crops.
He said that a price formula will be prepared in consultation with farmers’ organizations and farmers’ representatives and submitted to Parliament for adoption.
In order to get a fair price for the farmer’s a system should be developed with a fixed buying price in comparison with the cost of producing, Premadasa said.
