He said he was leaving Congress because his children were growing up and he did not want to be remembered as a weekend father. That's bullshit!
As a member of Congress, he works far fewer days than other fathers in this country. The truth is that he's scared. He can see the writing on the wall -- that a blue wave is building that'll kick him out of the Speaker's job, even if he got re-elected (and there's a good chance he would lose his own district).
If the blue wave is as big as it seems to be, Ryan knows that he (and Trump and McConnell) will bear the brunt of the blame for it. He would be humiliated.
This is a man who's quitting before he can be fired.
