Developed in 1941 from the civilian Ryan ST design, the Ryan PT-22 Recruit was a military trainer aircraft used by the United States Army Air Corps during WWII for primary pilot training and the last of T. Claude Ryan’s metal trainer designs.   The wheel spats and landing gear fairings seen on the Ryan ST were deleted on this aircraft in order to simplify maintenance.  The A-model started as Model ST-3S twin-float seaplanes ordered by the Netherlands Navy.  The order for 25 aircraft was cancelled and diverted to the United States Army Air Corps.  Actor Harrison Ford piloted a PT-22 during a well publicized 2015 crash landing on a golf course.  Fuji X-E2 w/18-55mm.
