Sometimes I stumble upon a running quote that feels júst right. Recently I found this quote:
‘Most mornings, I run through the woods in the slanting light. I run, but I’m not getting anywhere – that is, I’m just there, in the woods, running. I give myself half an hour of not getting anywhere, and it opens my day to joy.’ (Rev. Kim K. Crawford Harvie)
What I love most about this quote, is the ‘not getting anywhere’. Because that’s what running is about for me. Running is about running. About moving your body, about getting in touch with yourself and connecting with nature. So no thank you so much for offering, but no, I don’t need you to give me a lift so I can get home faster.
I run for the run of it, and I truly believe there is no better way to start your day than to go for a run.
