Run 10 Feed 10 NYC

By Bigcitylittleblog @feakins

Ahh! I’m a little scared… I’ve signed up for a 10k run with Women’s Health Magazine. I must precedent this with a simple fact: I AM NOT A RUNNER. In fact, I find running the most difficult, stressful, and frustrating of workouts. Hand me a 100 lbs bar to squat or stick me in a grueling spin class, but running? There’s something about it that’s not for me.

Having said that. It’s so frustratingly difficult that I always find myself coming back to it. A part of me must love the challenge, and I must admit I feel accomplished to shave off some time or go an extra distance. Recently, I’ve worked up to a 5k run in an average of 35 minutes. Laugh all you want, but that’s a helluva lot better than what I used to run!

I’m getting off topic here. I digress… Women’s Health Magazine is hosting its 3rd annual  NYC RUN10 FEED10 philanthropic race and wellness event that helps fight domestic hunger. The concept is simple, register to run a 10K and feed 10 people in the NYC community. As if that concept isn’t incentive enough, Women’s Health is also offering a special discount code for you! Enter the code R10F10PR at checkout for $5 off your registration fee when you sign up here.

Women’s Health Magazine and FEED  are kicking off the event series in  New York City on September 21st with thousands of participants running down the West Side Highway for the timed race ending at Pier 84 at Hudson River Park.  A post-race wellness festival will feature yoga sessions, nutrition and beauty consultations and great giveaways. Joining this year is Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee who will be the guest host and running in the race.
