In Rufus and Ryan Go to Church! Ryan explains to his stuffed monkey, Rufus, what is happening as they attend church on Sunday morning. He lets Rufus know when it's time to sing and to pray and to be quiet.
About the series: Rufus and Ryan is a new series of board books for preschoolers, featuring Ryan, an energetic little boy, and his stuffed monkey Rufus. The series focuses on religious and church concepts, as well as character traits and development. The text is presented in young Ryan's voice as he teaches Rufus about the things he is learning himself.
In about 150 age-appropriate words, author Kathleen Bostrom brings a delightfully light touch to the text as she provides an introduction to practices and experiences that many children are exposed to long before they understand why. And children everywhere will relate to the idea of explaining their surroundings to a favorite companion as they go about their daily activities.
This is a fun little book that is bound to capture the attention of any little kid. The pages are filled with color, and the text per page is short and and something that young children will understand. Going to church can be a scary thing, especially if you are going to be sitting with the adults during the service. That is where this book comes in. This book shows how Ryan and his stuffed monkey Rufus enjoy going to church and shows how the service works at Ryans’ church. It starts out showing how you dress up to go to church, and how friendly people are at church. In this book there are people of all ages at the service, which shows young children that they’re not the only young kids there. There’s the reminders to be quiet along with showing other things that can go on during a service like singing and Bible story time. By showing little kids what could happen at church, exposing them to this before they actually go can help relieve the nervousness of going. For little kids going to church for the first time, or just going to the adult service for the first time this is a good book to show what can happen
