Rowan’s Creek Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey Review

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

As we've said on numerous occasions, we like whiskey with a "5" in it. Why a "5"? Because a "5" says, "This whiskey isn't messing around, so proceed with caution...".

On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we sample a Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey with not one, but TWO "5s" in it. One in the front, and one in the back. We like the numerical symmetry! But did we like the whiskey? Well, that's what we're here to find out.

The symmetrical 50.5% ABV whiskey that we're discussing today is called Rowan's Creek. Now while the label suggests something made in very small batches in someone's converted barn that's nestled in a secret spot in the Hollow (pronounced Holler by our friends in Kentucky or on the sadly departed show, Justified), the truth is that this whiskey is a product of Bardstown, Kentucky's always delightful Willett Distillery. Here's what they have to say about Rowan's Creek:

Bringing your nose to the glass and your olfactory is treated to caramel and vanilla layered on herbal and floral notes. The mouthfeel starts oily but finishes dry. On the palate you are treated to sweet caramel, vanilla, dusted in floral notes... finishing notes of oak and a lingering spiciness.

That sounds mighty good! To find out if Rowan's Creek Bourbon lives up to those intriguing tasting notes, hit the play button on the following video:
