Romantic and Intimate — Andrew and Harriette’s Oaks Farm Wedding in Surrey

By Claire

Sorry Andrew… that part of your questionnaire made me chuckle! Love it!

So here’s a fabulous English wedding blog which I know you’ll enjoy seeing more of. The images are by Maureen Du Preez (thanks Maureen!) and words are by today’s rather dashing groom Andrew. Oh! Let’s start with a quote (because it’s a heart-melter…) from Andrew — his memorable moments from the day:

“the moment I turned to see my bride walk in, she took my breath away!!! Also to see my father shedding a tear and the smile on my mother’s face made it so special for me.”

Harriette and Andrew, congratulations and thank you SO much for sharing with us today. Everyone — enjoy! Claire x

Harriette and Andrew — a romantic and intimate Oaks Farm wedding in Surrey

Your names:

Andrew Redmond, Harriette Victoria Redmond

Wedding venue:

Oaks Farm, Shirley, Surrey

Wedding photographer:

Maureen Du Perez Photography

How would you describe your wedding style?

Modern with a classic twist

Invitations and reception stationery:

I (Andrew Redmond) designed and printed all the stationery myself

What did you both wear?

Harriette wore a La Sposa Dominic dress, shoes were from eBay, wedding underwear was from Ted Baker, birdcage veil was from a wedding boutique near Harley Street in the West End, earrings and bracelet were a present from my sister in California from Etsy. Necklace was from Debenhams, garter was from Etsy

My suit was from Ted Baker (Gatsby style) as was the shirt, my tie was from Burton. Cuff links were purchased from The Earl’s Court wedding show, shoes and socks were from Paul Smith. I was even rocking some David Beckham briefs if you need to know! Lol

A little about the wedding ceremony:

The ceremony was romantic and intimate, shared with close friends and family. The barn had a relaxed feeling about it and everyone felt at home. It was not overpowering in size but also it wasn’t cramped for space! It was just perfect in every way. The reading was called “on your wedding day” read by Harriette’s 10 year old niece Abigail.

Tell us a little about your wedding venue styling and details:

We went for a romantic feel using candles where we could, and decorating the venue with purple orchids, ivy and lilac hydrangeas, there were fairy lights around the beams in the barn which were supplied by the venue, in all honesty we really didn’t need to do too much to the venue as its was so beautiful already.

Wedding music and entertainment

We had a DJ for the evening supplied by Sounds Sensation playing cheese to modern music catering to everyone’s tastes, our first dance was to Ed Sheeran — Kiss Me and Harriette had a father-daughter dance to Cinderella by Steve Curtis Chapman. We ended the night with Higher Love by Vincent McMorrow.

Memorable wedding day moments:

  • For me (Andrew) it was the moment I turned to see my bride walk in, she took my breath away!!!
  • Also to see my father shedding a tear and the smile on my mother’s face made it so special for me.
  • Also having a fun time with close friends and family was amazing.
  • (Harriette) it was the build up to the service, feeling the nerves but also getting pampered by the hair stylist and make-up artist was great!
  • But the best bit was having my father walk me down the aisle. For both of us we really enjoyed walking out as man and wife! Best day ever!!

Wedding day advice:

It’s a very busy day so just try to take it in your stride and enjoy it as much as you can because it goes so quickly
