Lifting rice sacks may not be the first thing you would do with a friggin’ robot suit but that’s what people were shown by Koba Lab from Tokyo University of Science at CEATEC. This 9kg suit holds a pair of pneumatic artificial muscles also known as McKibben artificial muscles,on the back from the industrial equipment manufacturer Kanda Tsushin.

When pressurized with air using electrical components from KOA Corporation, the lightweight, loosely-woven PET tubes contract and consequently provide support to the user’s back, shoulders and elbows.
