Turn the nutritious, protein-packed fox nuts or makhana into a healthy, crunchy snack with our roasted phool makhana recipe! Perfect for growing babies!
There’s a lot we can learn from the lotus. Yes it is our National flower, but it’s also an inspiration for blooming despite all odds. The Lotus flower symbolizes beauty, purity, wealth, serenity – and one more, nutrition!
Few of us look beyond the beauty of the lotus, but the fact is that the seeds of the lotus flower are among the most nutritious things you can feed your family. Also called fox nuts or Makhana, they are used in ancient Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. Makhana seeds/fox nuts are filled with anti-oxidants, dietary fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and potassium.
You can introduce Makhana to babies after 6 months, making sure to follow the 3 Day Rule. Today we have a Roasted phool makhana recipe that can be offered as finger food for babies over 8 months. Being rich in essential nutrients, this recipe also makes a perfect snack for older children too.
